Dermatologist-developed formula helps reveal fresher skin. Sweeps away dulling flakes and excess oil so moisturizer can do its job better. Meant for Dry Combination Skin.
Helps fine dry lines disappear.
Using cotton ball, sweep over face/neck twice daily.
Alcohol Denat. ~ To prevent people from drinking cosmetic products a chemical is added to the alcohol in order to make the product taste very unpleasant. This very unpleasant alcohol is called Alcohol Denat. In toners it makes skin feel fresh and clean. Because alcohol evaporates quickly, it can dry your skin out. Alcohol also dissolves the natural oil from the surface of the skin
Glycerin ~ is a natural humectant and helps maintain the skin's water balance.
Salicylic Acid ~ A versatile ingredient used as an acne treatment and exfoliant. Known and well-documented side effects of products containing Salicylic Acid include stinging, burning, dryness, peeling, and flaking of the skin
Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) ~ Witch Hazel, not the alcohol free version called Witch Hazel Hydrosol, is an astringent. Now the funny thing is, half of the product is already Alcohol.
Menthol ~ Menthol is an organic compound with a characteristic minty smell. It can be derived from natural sources, such as peppermint and eucalyptus plants, or produced synthetically. Menthol has a range of invigorating and soothing properties.
Trehalose ~ hydrating properties and antioxidant powers.
Sodium Hyaluronate ~ is a safe and effective moisturizer. It mimics hyaluronic acid produced naturally by the body and is non-irritating to skin.
Butylene Glycol ~ humectant
Citric Acid ~ A pH adjuster
Sodium Hydroxide ~ A pH adjuster, a strong irritant.
Disodium EDTA ~ It primarily works as a preservative, chelator and stabilizer, but has also been shown to enhance the foaming and cleaning capabilities of a cosmetic solution.
BHT ~ preservative
Phenoxyethanol ~ preservative, Studies have shown that Phenoxyethanol can be an extreme irritant to the eyes and skin.
Benzophenone-4 ~ A photostabilizer and sunscreen agent used for its ability to absorb UV rays. It helps prevent the integrity of other cosmetic ingredients from deteriorating under the sun. Though it covers UVB and short UVA (UVA-2) range rays, it's an inadequate sunscreen agent when used alone.
Red 6, Red 33, Violet 2 ~ Artificial Dyes. Violet 2 has already been banned for use in cosmetics (makeup) because it is unsafe.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 is actually a toner, the second step to CTM. I take a little bit of this Toner in a cotton pad and swipe it lightly all over my face, neck, nape and ears (yes all of it) in an outward direction after cleansing my face with a mild cleanser.
The first thing I noticed about this product is, its unbearable nail polish remover kind of, smell. It is so uncomfortable that I have to almost stop breathing while applying it on my skin. The next thing is, it stings damn badly, though it does not sting much now.
I was earlier using The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner, which gave me tiny bumps near my nose area but I have not faced such issues with this one. It also removes all the remaining dirt, makeup and/or tiny towel fibres that sticks to your face, effectively. My face feels really refreshed after using it but it does dry out my face because of its high alcohol content.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, is not an exfoliant but an alcohol-based astringent. I do not understand why this product is aimed at those with very dry skin or dry-combination skin. I think it will work better with combination, oily skin. My skin has become a tad-bit more oily in the T-Zone, with regular use of this product as its high alcohol content strips the skin off natural oil and the skin produces more oil in return. I think I am not going to buy the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 again.
Removes all the remaining dirt, makeup effectively.
Leaves my skin refreshed and clean.
High Alcohol content.
Has this unbearable nail polish remover kind of smell.
Dries out my skin.
Not fit for dry, dry-combination skin, as suggested.
My Rating ♥
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 costs ₹1400 approx for 200ml. Also comes in 400ml. The one I am using is a 60ml trial pack.
